I think your current plan sounds very sensible, and I'd encourage you to stick with it. Communications, PR, and marketing (along with most humanities and social science degrees, for that matter) all tend to be acceptable qualifications for the same kinds of entry-level positions. If you want to clarify your major a bit more on your resume and/or in your cover letters, you can always list a few relevant classes you've taken. Also, be sure to get some kind of practical experience, whether that's a job, an internship, a leadership position in a student activity, or volunteering. If you can make it relevant to your interest in doing something good in the world, so much the better.
